What Is Recovery Tracking?

Recovery tracking is the practice of using observations such as sleep, workload, heart-rate patterns, and subjective readiness to understand how prepared you may feel for another training session.

Recovery is not a single score

A readiness or recovery score is an interpretation of several inputs. It can be useful as a prompt to check in with yourself, but it cannot fully capture fitness, fatigue, injury risk, life stress, or your goals.

Common inputs

Consumer systems may combine heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep-related estimates, recent activity, and personal logs. Methods differ between products, so scores from different devices are not directly interchangeable.

Make the decision with context

Use a trend as one input alongside perceived effort, soreness, mood, and coaching or clinical guidance. A wearable should not overrule severe symptoms or professional advice.
